VIdeo of The Day: Aerials of Selby Bay, near Annapolis, MD

Very proud to present this video which was produced on Father’s Day off the South River near Annapolis, MD.  Credits include producer, videographer, and editor.  As my experience with aerial photography grows, I’m fast learning the importance of advanced planning, checklists and adaptation to weather-related production challenges.

The blue hues of dusk lighting are especially vivid in this video. Also pay attention to the fight paths, height of camera, position of sun and length of shot, which were all considered before I piloted the DJI Phantom 2 with GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition.

Cisco Online Video Forecast

For online marketing professionals, the latest Cisco Visual Networking Index contains a key takeaway when it comes to online video:  Start to incorporate online video into your marketing mix, as the report forecasts the online video will reach more users than social media by 2017, surpassing Facebook and Twitter.

Although entertainment content will be the most highly viewed genre, the Cisco forecast validates our view that video has become an expectation for website visitors — and will only become more so in the future — as it becomes a larger and larger part of the user experience.

The full Cisco Visual Networking Index can be found at the link above.  Here are a few highlights as related to online video:

  • Video-on-demand traffic will triple in 2017 to about 69 percent of all internet traffic, up 52% from 2012.
  • It would take an individual over 5 million years to watch the amount of video that will cross global IP networks each month in 2017.
  • Every second, nearly a million minutes of video content will cross the network in 2017.
  • Mobile video traffic will account for two-thirds, or 66 percent, of overall mobile traffic in 2017.

Video of The Day: GoPro: Red Bull Stratos

Dear readers, we must be candid as the Video of Day here at DCOnlineVideo aspires to continue to make a good use of your valuable time!

For business-to-business marketers (B2b), there is no case-study or best practice lesson from the video below.  But blow a few minutes of your day and watch anyway! It’s breathtaking and sure to evoke a Wow! reaction.

(Tip: If your watching is a distraction from more important tasks… well…  we suggest that you slurp down a Red Bull and tell your boss you had to experience the complete B2C marketing cycle for this campaign!  This is, of course, if a) you aren’t sensitive to energy drinks; b) you don’t have a fear of heights; and/or c) you must to check out the video quality when a GoPro Hero is mounted onto a man (Felix Baumgartner) becoming the first-person to break the speed of sound after free falling from 24.5 miles above the earth.  PS: It’s incredibly HQ!

FYI: (Spectacle aside, this video, released today by GoPro, shows the harrowing descent that almost cost Baumgartner his life as you’ll see when he began uncontrollably spinning in mid-flight).
